Special Conditions

Planting on Slopes or Berms
  1. Form a soil ring. Use this method only in areas not covered by normal lawn watering, such as slopes and berms.
  2. In areas where water tends to collect, slope soil away from trunk to shed water. This is especially important on certain varieties such as Pines, Birch, Mountain Ash, Maples, Lindens, Oaks, Cherries, and Hackberry.
  3. Where aggregate, crushed stone or other mulch is desired around plantings, use normal planting procedures, then remove 2 inches of soil and fill to ground level with material desired.
